Sci-Fi & Fantasy

Sci-Fi & Fantasy

Science fiction and fantasy both answer the question, “What if?” Science fiction takes our current understanding of how the universe works and imagines ideas and technologies that we haven’t seen yet, but still could fit within that understanding. It’s fiction that expands on what we know about science, operating on familiar principles.

What’s the Difference?

Science fiction is a form of fantastical literature. Science fiction is possible because it is based on facts, even if it isn’t likely, like artificial intelligence, space flights, alternative universes. Fantasy is things that aren’t scientifically possible, like talking animals, immortals, or flying pigs (although some debate that the last one is real).
